Triple-A: Rochester Red Wings 3, Charlotte Knights 1

After a doubleheader on Monday, the Red Wings played an early 11:05 AM game yesterday, meaning three games in less than 24 hours—and the Red Wings won them all!

The star of this game was definitely SP Nik Turley, who gave up only a solo home run over 6.2 innings or work, and struck out TEN batters. Why can’t Turley do that in the majors, darn it?

Speaking of strikeouts, RP John Curtiss struck out all three batters he faced in the 9th inning to get the save. He has a 2.61 ERA at Triple-A now.

As for the batters, 2B Tommy Field was the only Red Wing with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with a double and one run scored. 3B Niko Goodrum hit a RBI triple.

Double-A: Chattanooga Lookouts off

A scheduled off day for the Fightin’ Mauers.

[No Box Score]

High-A: Bradenton Marauders 3, Ft. Myers Miracle 1

It wasn’t Miracle SP Brady Anderson’s day, to say the least. He didn’t do THAT bad, going 5 innings and giving up only two earned runs, but two unearned runs were tacked too his stat line due to a a throwing error by SS Jermaine Palacios and a fielding error by 3B Nelson Molina. It was very frustrating.

Done with this game.

Low-A: Cedar Rapids Kernels off

Scheduled off day for the Kernels.

[No Box Score]

Rookie League: Bristol Pirates 9, Elizabethton Twins 5

Well the BIG initial news is that second round draft pick Brook Rooker was promoted from Rookie Ball straight to High-A yesterday, so woohoo!

Anyway, the baby Twins sucked. 2B Jose Miranda wetn 2-for-5 and SS Wander Javier went 2-for-5, but otherwise no one got other two hits in the game for the Twins. There weren’t even any extra-base hits.
