Triple-A: Toledo Mud Hens 6, Rochester Red Wings 3
Well gee, Gee. Veteran SP Dillon Gee started this one for the Red Wings and didn’t do to great, giving up five runs on eight hits over 6 innings. At least he didn’t walk anyone? Still, the Red Wings couldn’t climb out of that hole.
They tried too, though! Late in the game. Down 6-0 going into the bottom of the 8th, 2B Niko Goodrum tripled and then scored on a ground out by C Mitch Garver. A couple hits combined with passed balls led the Red Wings to score two more runs in the bottom of the 9th, but it wasn’t enough for a win.
Double-A: Chattanooga Lookouts 4, Mobile BayBears 1
The Lookouts jumped out to an early lead when SS Nick Gordon scored on a wild pitch in the top of the 1st inning. Though Lookouts SP Kohl Stewart gave up a run to tie the game in the bottom of the same inning, it was the only run he’d give up in his 5 innings of work. In fact, he only gave up one hit the whole time.
Meanwhile, Lookouts 2B Ryan Walker hit a solo home run in the 2nd to regain the lead, and then the Lookouts never looked back. The home run was the only extra-base hit in the game for the Lookouts.
High-A: Bradenton Marauders 4, Ft. Myers Miracle 1
The Marauders jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs off Miracle SP Cody Stashak in the bottom of the 1st inning. Though Stashak stuck around and ended up pitching 6 innings total, he was responsible for all four runs, which the Miracle batters could not overcome.
In fact, the Miracle batters only mustered four hits and four walks the entire game. Pretty lame, if you ask me.
Newly-promoted LF Brent Rooker again went 0-for-3 with a walk.
Low-A: Great Lakes Loons 10, Cedar Rapids Kernels 0
Bad game. Kernels SP Tyler Beardsley gave up four runs and only lasted 4.2 innings. He was relieved by RP Max Cordy, who three bleepin’ three wild pitched. Also, three of the ten runs the Loons scored were unearned, thanks to a throwing error by SS Gorge Munoz.
The Kernels only mustered four hits.
Bad game.
Rookie League: Elizabethton Twins 7, Bristol Pirates 1
Good game. The baby Twins got fourteen hits, including a home run by C Rainis Silva. SS Wander Javier also had two doubles and two RBI.
The only run the Twins gave up was unearned, thanks to a throwing error by 1B J.J. Robinson. Otherwise, good game.
