Triple-A: Rochester Red Wings 2, Toledo Mud Hens 0
Great game for Red Wings SP Aaron Slegers who threw 8.0 scoreless innings!!! He only struck out one guy, but still.
CF Byron Buxton, who is suddenly on rehab assignment with the Red Wings, did well too, going 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the 6th inning. I also hate to start sounding like a broken record here, but 1B Byung Ho Park hit a home run too.
Double-A: Chattanooga Lookouts 6, Montgomery Biscuits 3
A day after their marathon, 21-inning game, the Lookouts turned to face the Biscuits, who they ended up burning them good, 6-3. Lookouts SP Stephen Gonsalves went 6.1 innings, only giving up three runs on six hits and four walks. That was good enough for the Lookouts win.
DH Max Murphy, one of the hero position players who pitched in last night’s game, went 2-for-3 with three walks and two runs scored.
High-A: Ft. Myers Miracle 4, Clearwater Threshers 0 (Game One)
Doubleheader! Game one went well for the Miracle, who were leading 1-0 going into the 7rh and final inning (doubleheader shortened game), when suddenly they exploded for thee runs! An error by Threshers SS Emmanuel Marrero helped, but still, we’ll take it.
High-A: Clearwater Threshers 2, Ft. Myers Miracle 0 (Game Two)
Game two of the doubleheader! This one did not go as well for the Miracle. SP Keaton Steele pitched three innings but gave up one run on four hits. RP Williams Ramirez pitched two solid, scoreless innings for the Miracle, but then RP Alex Muren came in, gave up another run.
And the Miracle batters got no-hit by Threshers SP Harold Arauz. He struck out 10 guys too.
The end.
Low-A: Clinton LumberKings 5, Cedar Rapids Kernels 3
The LumberKings got one off Kernels SP Anthony Marzi in the first inning, and just kept going. In all Marzi gave up five runs, though only four earned thanks to a passed ball by C Ben Rortvedt.
Both Kernels RP Logan Lombana and RP Max Cordy threw two scoreless innings, but the offense never got anything going.
Rookie League: Elizabethton Twins 9, Kingsport Mets 1
Love this run support for the baby Twins! C Andrew Cosgrove hit a solo home run, while 2B Jose Miranda went 2-for-5 and drove in two runs. RF Shane Carrier also impressive, going 2-for-4 with a walk, a RBI, and a run scored.
