Triple-A: Rochester Red Wings off

Scheduled off day for the Red Wings.

Double-A: Chattanooga Lookouts 7, Montgomery Biscuits 6

A four-run 5th inning helped put the Lookouts over the top in this one. Lookouts C Carlos Paulino led off the inning with a single, and eventually reached third after walks by CF Levi Michael and SS Nick Gordon. The strike zone must have been really silly, because then the Biscuits manager, their pitching coach, and starting C Justin O'Conner were all ejected from the game for arguing balls and strikes.

Unfortunately, all those ejections didn’t fire up the Biscuits, as LF LaMonte Wade came to the plate next and hit a bases-clearing triple. Ouch. Wade then scored the fourth run of the inning on a single by DH Jonathan Rodriguez.

Anywho, fun game! 3B T.J. White also hit a dinger for the Lookouts. The Biscuits tried to make a comeback, scoring one run off RP Nick Anderson in the bottom of the 9th inning, but fell short of making a comeback.

SP Kohl Stewart was pretty shaky for the Lookouts, so it’s a good thing they scored all those runs. Stewart lasted 6.0 innings but gave up five earned runs on seven hits and four walks.

High-A: Clearwater Threshers 6, Ft. Myers Miracle 3

Well this is unfortunate.

SP Sean Poppen had a great start for the Miracle giving up only one run over 6.0 innings. He left the game with the Miracle up 3-1, and was on track for the win.

Then our old friend RP Glen Perkins game into the game. It was Perkins’ second appearance for the Miracle this year, and while he managed to throw a full inning, he gave up a two-run home run to Threshers CF Carlos Duran that tied the game.

But Perk didn’t lose the game for the Miracle. That pleasure went to RP David Fischer, who did Perk one better, giving up three runs in the bottom of the 8th inning and earning the big ol’ L in this one.

Good news, though: 1B Brent Rooker and C Mitchell Kranson both homered.

Low-A: Cedar Rapids Kernels 2, Clinton LumberKings 0

SP Charlie Barnes and a trio from the Kernels bullpen (RP Patrick McGuff, RP Ryan Mason, and RP Hector Lujan) were able to combine to shutout the LumberKings yesterday.

Combine that with a two-run dinger by Kernels LF Jimmy Kerrigan and you got yourself a win.

Rookie League: Elizabethton Twins 9, Kingsport Mets 3

Another win over the baby Mets for the baby Twins! The little guys went doubles-happy in this one, with CF Akil Baddoo, RF Shane Carrier, SS Jordan Gore, and DH Jose Miranda all hitting one double, and 3B Andrew Bechtold hitting two doubles. A double double.
