Low-A: Quad Cities River Bandits 6, Cedar Rapids Kernels 1

I’m afraid it’s the end of the road for our dear Kernels, as they dropped the final and deciding game of the three-game playoff series against the River Bandis yesterday.

It wasn’t particularly close, either. The River Bandits jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning off SP Tyler Wells. For what it’s worth, Wells stayed in the game and ended up pitching 4.1 innings overall—though he gave up another run, waking it a 4-0 game by the time he left.

The Kernels batters mustered all of four hits in the game. They just could not figure out River Bandits SP Kit Scheetz, who had nine strikeouts in the game.

The one run the Kernels did get was on a solo dinger by CF Aaron Whitefield in the 7th inning.

Thus concludes the Twins minor league affiliates for the season.

Winter is coming.
