Albers shines again, not allowing an earned run for the 2nd time in as many outings.

While the Los Angeles area may have Yasil Puig and Mike Trout. The Maryland/Washington DC area get to see Brcye Harper and Manny Machado. With us being in the midwest, we need our own new hero (Sorry, Joe) and it looks like we may have him in Andrew Albers. Albers allowed just two hits over nine innings baffling the Cleveland Indians on a beautiful Monday night at Target Field. The Twins got three early runs courtesy of a long ball, AGAIN! The last 22 runs scored by the Twins have come via long ball... Considering, well, ya know, we have the coaching staff we have, this is insanity! Just kiddings.. any who, Brian Dozier led off the bottom of the first with a solo blast. The second time in his career he did that, both of them were starts by guess who; Andrew Albers. Entering today Trevor Plouffe was having an abysmal 2nd half of the season, recording just seven hits in 63 at bats, with just seven total bases during that span... Well Plouffe broke out of that slump, with a two run blast in the 2nd making it a three run game. With Albers given a nice early cushion, the game was clearly over. The new front runner for prime minister of Canada took his 86mph fastball and was brilliant retiring the side in order in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th. Albers will most likely face Chris Sale the next time out this weekend when the Twins welcome the Sox. Is it me, or this is the first time since Johan that im actually excited for a starting pitcher of the Twins. Only two starts, I know, but seeing 67mph breaking balls constantly is way too fun to watch.

Only seven more chances to see the Indians at Target Field this year!

Probables

Monday, 7:10pm, FSN: Andrew Albers vs. Danny Salazar

Tuesday, 7:10pm, FSN: Samuel Deduno vs. Zach McAllister

Wednesday, 12:10pm, NO TV: Kyle Gibson vs. Carlos Carrasco

Indians Notes

One week ago, Cleveland had a lot of hope. They'd won ten of eleven, they were three games back of the Tigers, with four games in Cleveland coming up with Detroit. A sweep would have seen them into first place in the AL Central. Instead, Detroit won all four, and Cleveland went out and lost two more to the Angels for good measure, and now they're seven back and the division race is more or less over. A week ago, they were in the second wild-card spot; now they're four back, even though Tampa has lost five straight. It's all going wrong in Cleveland.

Carrasco, who's now scheduled to start Wednesday, was brought up on Friday in case the Indians' terrible bullpen had to pitch again.

Twins Notes

Darin Mastroianni is eligible to come off the disabled list on Thursday, except that he's yet to get a hit at Rochester during his rehab assignment. This hasn't stopped the Twins from calling guys up before - see Hicks, Aaron - but it'd be a slightly confusing decision if they decide to not let him get back on track first.

Every one of the Twins' 19 runs in Chicago scored thanks to a home run. I'm fairly confident that this hasn't happened for the Twins since pretty much ever.

As of yesterday morning, Justin Morneau was tied for the league lead in post-All-Star-Break home runs. This fact is brought to you by the Twins front office, who are printing it up and mailing it out, along with hundred-dollar bills, to pretty much every team in baseball.
